WordPress 3.5.1 released – update your WordPress websites

WordPress 3.5.1 is released

Last week, the folks at WordPress released WordPress 3.5.1 – the first update for the latest major release – WordPress 3.5, which fixes more than 30 reported bugs and several security issues.

We have tested our WordPress hosting themes and our plugin with the latest WordPress 3.5.1 version and so far everything seems to be working without a problem. You can safely update your WordPress version from the admin area of your website.

Problems you can run into while updating to WordPress 3.5.1:

A 500 Internal Server error: Premature end of script headers

Solution: load your WordPress website – you will be warned that the database needs to be updated. Click the Update button and let the script do its job. Then you should be able to log in to your admin area.

If you see this message: “An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now”, try to update again.

A 500 Internal Server error – no specific error listed

Solution: load your WordPress site – you will see a “Site in Maintenance Mode” message on each page, even in the admin area, but don’t worry. Log into your web hosting Control Panel and look for the WordPress installation files. In the root folder, you will see a .maintenance file – simply delete this file (or remove the dot from the name, if you don’t want to delete the file itself). You can now log into your WordPress admin area again and load your website.
